CARLYLE — Dorothy F. Ahlf, 85, of Carlyle, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born the daughter of Thomas and Mabel (Yardley) Quick on December 22, 1929 in Boulder. She married Clinton William Wedekemper on March 20, 1949. He passed away on September 18, 1976. She married Ben L. Ahlf on September 9, 1977. He passed away on March 21, 2003.
Survivors include sons Gary Wedekemper and wife Pamela of Carlyle, Donald Eugene Wedekemper and wife Deb of Howell, Michigan, Lynn Wedekemper and wife Laurie of Carlyle, and Mike Wedekemper and wife Laura of Shattuc; daughters Julie Ramsour and husband Dave of Hoffman, Patti England and husband Bob of College Station, Texas, and Renee Ahlf and special friend Greg Corder of Schertz, Texas; sister Edna Chapman of Central City; grandchildren Michelle Baranivsky, Clinton Wedekemper, Benjamin Wedekemper, Garret Wedekemper, Shanna Wedekemper, Steven Wedekemper, David Wedekemper, Elizabeth Wolff, Amanda Wedekemper, Thomas Wedekemper, Brandon Ramsour, Jordan Ramsour, Colin Ramsour, Chad England, and Todd England; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ahlf was preceded in death by her husbands, sisters Lucille Abanathie and Mildred Quick, brothers Paul, Dean, Junior, Elmer, Earl, Carl, Tom, and William Quick, and children Larry and Mary.
Mrs. Ahlf was owner and operator of Wedekemper Farm Supply and operated her farm. She was an active member of the Shattuc United Methodist Church, serving as the treasurer and a Sunday school teacher. Dorothy was a member of the Gideons and the Kaskaskia College Foundation. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. Dorothy enjoyed water aerobics. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed going to their sporting events. Dorothy was known as “Grandma” to many and was known for her hugs.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the Shattuc United Methodist Church in Shattuc.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Shattuc United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Doane will officiate. Interment will follow at the Carlyle City Cemetery.
In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shattuc United Methodist Church, Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, Gideons, or the Clinton Wedekemper and Family Endowment Scholarship fund at Kaskaskia College.
