EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Officials at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville say a construction worker has died while repaving a road on campus.
An SIUE spokesman says the worker died Thursday afternoon. School officials say the worker was part of a Keller Construction crew from Glen Carbon. The worker wasn’t immediately identified.
SIUE says heavy machinery used to compact gravel rolled down an embankment and struck the worker, throwing the worker into a ditch.
A school spokesman says the worker died at the scene.
