Loren Heldebrandt was arrested Monday night after allegedly fighting with Centralia police responding to an incident between neighbors.

Police reports show Heldebrandt went to the home of Alan Bierman in the 1000 block of South Cherry and reportedly began waving a hunting knife around. He apparently tossed the knife when he heard the police were coming.

A Centralia police officer arrived on the scene around that time and ordered Heldenbrandt to stop, but Heldenbrandt reportedly grabbed the officer instead and started to take her to the ground, but two other officers arrived after a brief fight with him were able to handcuff him and take him and into custody.

Heldebrandt was taken to the Marion County Jail and was formally charged in court this morning with Class 2 felony aggravated battery to a police officer, and Class 3 felony unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, as well as misdemeanor resisting a peace officer, and two counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Both Heldebrandt and he first officer on the scene were taken to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries.
