Burglary of Salem Animal Shelter under investigation

SALEM — According to Salem police, sometime during the evening hours between Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2, the Salem Animal Control facility was burglarized.

Salem Police Chief Sean Reynolds says miscellaneous tools and a laptop computer were taken during the burglary, and that the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, is handling the case.

Reynolds says not animals were injured or disturbed during the burglary.
