Ethan Robert Miller pleaded guilty to a Class 1 felony charge of attempted armed robbery with discharge of a firearm resulting in bodily harm, as well as Class 3 felony aggravated battery of a victim more than 60-years-old.

Miller was sentenced to 10-years in prison on the armed robbery charge and 4-years in prison for the aggravated battery, as well as ordered to pay Paul Koehler – the tavern owner – more than $65,000 in restitution.

Two other charges against Miller, Class X felony aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm and Class 3 felony aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, were dismissed per the plea agreement.

Clinton County State’s Attorney John Hudspeth says a juvenile male involved in the robbery has already been sentenced in the case to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Miller and the juvenile were reportedly part of a group of teens involved in other robberies occurring in the metro-east area at that time.

One of those teens, 18-year-old Chad Lidisky, of Belleville, already pleaded guilty in Clinton County to burglary charges and was sentenced to restitution and time served. He was then remanded to Marion County, where he’s facing a Class X felony charge of armed robbery with a firearm, for the Christmas Eve armed robbery of the Casey’s General Store in Sandoval.

Lidisky’s Clinton County plea agreement required him to testify truthfully against the others, which Hudspeth said he did in the Miller case, providing prosecutors with additional information.
