SCOTT AFB — The U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations is reporting that a 35-year-old airman reported wanted and
missing from Scott Air Force Base was captured last night in Reno, Nevada.
Technical Sgt. David Helm was reported missing just days before he was scheduled to face court-martial on charges of sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual assault using force, indecent filming or photographing private area of another person without consent and simple assault.
Helm’s last communication to friends was that he was traveling to La Follotte, Tennessee to visit his parents.
He was arrested Monday night in Reno, Nev., on Interstate 580, the same day he was scheduled to appear in court on the charges against him. Helm is currently in custody and security forces personnel will escort during his transport.
