MOUNT VERNON — Illinois Department of Transportation is warning motorists that weather permitting lane reductions will begin  Monday on Illinois 142 about a mile south of Mt. Vernon so a contractor can start replacing a triple box culvert.

Motorists can expect major delays during the shift changes at Continental Tire from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and again from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

You should use caution and watch out for workers and equipment in the area. You are encouraged to seek alternate routes if you can to avoid the work zone.
