SANDOVAL — Rita Mae Massa, 74, of Sandoval passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015, at her home. She was born April 25, 1941, the daughter of Thomas Bratcher and Bernice (Gallagher) Bratcher. She was formerly married to Robert Massa Sr.
Rita is survived by sons Dan Massa of Sandoval, John Massa of Sandoval, and Bob Massa and wife Kari of Highland; daughters Mary Lambert and husband Tony of Henderson, Nevada, Laura Shepler and husband Joe of Junction City, and Linda Fields and husband George of Sandoval; sister Lois Warnick and husband Ralph of Hartselle, Alabama; brother Tom Bratcher of Joliet; grandchildren Jeremy and wife Rachel, Emily, Ryan, Destiny and husband Mark, Megan and husband Bob, Sarah, Tyler, Vanessa, Kristen, Rachel, Elias, Jack, and Aaron; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Janet Bedford.
Rita served as a cook for 24 years at the Sandoval Grade School. Following her retirement, and enjoyed spending time with the retired Sandoval Grade School teachers. Rita attended the Addus Adult Day Care. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed caring for her plants. Rita was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Day Macz Funeral Homes in Sandoval.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval, with Father Patrick “Pat” Peter officiating. Interment will follow at the Sandoval Cemetery.
