Centralia motorcyclist killed in Monday Salem traffic accident

SALEM — An accident Monday afternoon in Salem claimed the life of a 37-year-old Centralia man who had been riding his motorcycle on Main Street near the Salem Wal-mart store on the west side of Salem.

Adam Morgan was initially transported to Salem Township Hospital before being airlifted for treatment to St. Louis University Hospital where he was pronounced dead Monday night.

Reports say Morgan was westbound on Main Street when 41-year-old William Wright of Wamac reportedly turned his pickup truck left from the stop sign in the Wal-mart parking lot and struck Morgan’s motorcycle on the side. Morgan was subsequently thrown from the motorcycle.

Wright and a passenger in his pickup escaped injury.
