MADISON COUNTY (AP) — A 54-year-old girls’ softball coach in Madison County has been charged with sexually abusing two preteen players.

KMOV-TV reports that Michael A. Rasmussen is accused of sexual abuse of a minor, predatory sexual assault and sexual exploitation.

Rasmussen spent three years as a coach in the Drost Park Khoury Softball League in the southwestern Illinois town of Maryville. The abuse allegedly took place when the two victims, who are both 13, were 11 years old.

Online court records didn’t list an attorney on Rasmussen’s behalf. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 10.
