JEFFERSON COUNTY — One person was flown to a St. Louis hospital with major injuries and three suffered non-life threatening injuries after a Saturday crash in Jefferson County.
According to accident reports, 23-year-old Quentin Metje of Ina was traveling northbound in a 1981 Chevy pickup truck on Triton Lane and failed to stop at the Route 148 intersection, striking a 2014 Dodge Charger being driven by a 16-year-old Salem male.
The driver and three other Salem teenagers in the Charger were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Another passenger in the Charger was airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital with major injuries and is reportedly in critical condition.
Metje and a passenger in his vehicle, 27-year-old Matthew Stanley of Mt. Vernon were not injured.
Metje was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device. Additional charges are pending.
