MONROE COUNTY — A missing Mount Vernon teen was found Tuesday morning in the woods near a Waterloo camp.

The search for JaTe’a Frank began shortly after her 11 a.m. Monday arrival by taxi cab to the camp. JaTe’a reportedly paid the driver $110 cash for the trip, but when he turned to give the girl her bags, she was gone. Her mother thought her daughter was still at home, but found she had left.

An estimated 80 to100 searchers aided by at least one helicopter from St. Louis and several tracking dogs from area emergency agencies searched for JaTe’a through the night.

Camp Wartburg is located southwest of Waterloo in Monroe County, it’s a retreat center and summer camp operated by Lutheran Child and Family Services that promotes worship through outdoor activities and education.
