CLINTON COUNTY — Former Clinton County Sheriff Gerald “Jerry” Dall has passed away. Dall served as Sheriff of Clinton County from 1966-1970 and again from 1974-1990, after his conviction by a Sangamon County jury in a case that received statewide publicity.

Dall first went to work for the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department in the 1950s before running for sheriff.

He was arrested Sept 19, 1988, after his ex-wife told police that Dall forced his way into her Springfield home, gagged and handcuffed her and assaulted her.

No information regarding funeral arrangements for Dall have yet been released.
