BENTON — A 44-year-old Kinmundy man has been sentenced in federal court to 7-years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to Stephen Wigginton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, James C. Riley’s conviction came after he was found in 2009 in possession of four firearms at his Kinmundy home, and to have sold the four firearms that same month in Mt. Vernon.

Riley had previously been convicted of retail theft in Ogle County in 2004. The case was investigated by the Illinois Secretary of State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
