SPRINGFIELD — While Happy Hour will be making a comeback in Illinois under legislation Governor Bruce Rauner has signed into law, those drinks won’t be made from powdered alcohol.

Rauner signed legislation Thursday that bans anyone from buying or selling powdered alcohol. A violation of the law will be a Class A misdemeanor for a first offense, but a Class 4 felony for a second or subsequent offense.

The pouches of powdered alcohol come in a wide variety of flavors and styles.
Supporters of the law say the powdered alcohol is dangerous if children get ahold of it and it could lead to overdoses in adults.
