PULASKI COUNTY — A hearing to determine if a Mounds teen charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery in the shooting a Mounds police officer last week has been delayed.

Pulaski County State’s Attorney James Flummer wants to charge the 16-year-old boy as an adult and requested a hearing for today to see if that could be done.

Authorities say the boy was arrested after he sought medical attention for a minor gunshot wound. He is being held at the Franklin County Youth Detention Center in lieu of $1,000,000 bond.

The shooting happened in Mounds on July 8 as Officer Lyle Womack responded to an attempted residential burglary. Womack was wounded while exchanging fire with the boy who then fled the scene.

Womack is currently recovering and will be away from work for a few more weeks. A new date for the hearing has not been set.
