EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A former Edwardsville police dispatcher has been found guilty of helping a detective whom she dated hide evidence from a string of burglaries he’s accused of committing while on the job.

A Madison County judge ruled Tuesday that 41-year-old Keri Knight was guilty of two felony obstruction charges. She faces up to three years in prison at a future sentencing hearing but remains free on bond.

Defense attorney Bryce Joiner said his client, a former St. Louis police officer, cooperated with the investigation but was blinded by love.

Her ex-boyfriend Brian Barker is awaiting trial on a dozen counts of burglary allegedly committed over a 15-year period. He also is accused of unlawful possession of stolen firearms and arson to an office building he was accused of burglarizing.
