BENTON — Two people from Marion County have been sentenced in federal court this week, on a four-count indictment for drug-related crimes.

Jason Crabtree, 40, of Centralia has been sentenced to 5-years in federal prison on July 22, to a total of 60 months in prison on a four-count indictment charging him with Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Unlawful Distribution of Cocaine, Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced.

Following his prison sentence, Crabtree will be on federal supervised release for 5 years and was ordered to pay a fine of $500, as well as a $200 special assessment. An Order for forfeiture was entered in the amount of $75,000.

Crabtree’s 34-year-old co-defendant Cambryn M. Baker, of Odin, was also sentenced. Baker was sentenced to an 18 month split sentence — 9 months in prison, 9 months on home confinement — for her part in the indictment charging her with Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and Conspiracy to Launder Monetary Instruments and Concealing or Disguising the Nature, Source, Location, Ownership or Control of the Proceeds of Specified Unlawful Activity.

Following her split sentence, Baker will be on federal supervised release for 2 years and 3 months and was ordered to pay a $400 fine and $200 special assessment.

Between approximately January 2010 and January 2013, Crabtree, Baker, and others were involved in an organization which engaged in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, MEGSI and Illinois State Police and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Deirdre A. Durborow.
