WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Another charge has been filed against one of the drivers involved in that fatal crash that took place Wednesday afternoon on Route 13 at Samuel Road near Carterville.

Illinois State Police says 20-year-old Jeremy McGee of Marion was charged Thursday afternoon with possession of between 2.5 and 10 grams of cannabis. He’s also been cited for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.

McGee was the driver of the car that tried to cross Route 13 at Samuel Road and pulled into a path of a SUV driven by 41-year-old Keri E. Clark of Carterville. She was sent to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.

A two-year-old boy in Clark’s SUV was not injured, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Thirty-one-year-old David L. Lyerla of Marion along with 20-year-old Tommi L. Burnett-Minor of Marion and a three-month-old boy were all passengers in McGee’s car. Lyerla died at the scene.

McGee and the boy were taken to regional hospitals for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Burnett-Minor was also treated for non-life threatening injuries. State Police continue to investigate and more charges are possible.
