Bill F. Jackson

ODIN — Bill F. Jackson, 89, of Odin, passed away at 7 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle.

He was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Odin, the son of Horace and Goldie (Gibbs) Jackson. He married Mildred Elinor (Long) Jackson on May 16, 1948, in Salem, and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Jackson is survived by two sons, William Andrew Jackson and Rick Jackson and wife Connie, all of Odin; sister Jeannine “Toots” Bundy, of Odin; granddaughter Jennifer Hunzicker and husband Mark; three great-grandchildren, Haley, Trey, and Sydney Hunzicker, all of Salem; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Newton, Frances “Dempsey” and Forrest “Jack”; and one sister, Agnes McHaney.

Mr. Jackson worked at Central City Lumber for 47 years and served as a long-time manager. He was a member of the Odin United Methodist Church, and served as a Sunday School teacher. He served on the Odin School Board, Odin Township Board and was a Little League baseball coach.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, with Pastor Claude Howell officiating. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Society and may be left at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home.
