KINMUNDY — Robert E Winks, Sr., age 67 of Kinmundy, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Doctors Health And Rehab Center in Salem.
Robert was born September 16, 1947 in Peoria, the son of the late Eugene Winks and the late Lulu (Nelson) Winks. He married Janice Holzhauer on November 21, 1977 in Pontiac.He was a retired sergeant prison guard with the Illinois Department of Corrections and a member of the Kinmundy Masons and the Kinmundy American Legion as well as a member of Alma Christian Church. He served in the United State Army during the Vietnam War.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice Winks of Kinmundy; son, Robert “Robbie” Winks Jr. and wife Jackie Griffin, of Kinmundy; daughters, Jeana Saatkamp and husband Mike of Salem, and Kimberly Bouser and husband Ethan, of Farina; half-brother, Roy Nelson of Des Moines, Iowa; half-sister Linda Rupe and husband Ron, of Des Moines; brothers-in-law, Jeff Holzhauer and wife Renia, of Pontiac, John Holzhauer and wife Cindy, of Alma, Rod Halzhauer of El Paso, Ill., and Michael Sexton and wife Karrie, of Pearland, Texas; sisters-in-law, Janet Duncan of Kinmundy, Marsha Meister and husband Leroy, of Fairbury, Ill.; aunts Mary Winks of Salem, and Mary Weeks of Alma; grandchildren, Nathan, Jaime, Kemper, Emilee, Carter, Lindsey, Kaitlyn, Jon, Jenna, Anna Marie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William Winks and Roy L. Nelson.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2015.
