WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 30-year-old Hoyleton man has pleaded guilty in Washington County Court to providing the heroin that led to the death of another man who injected himself with the drug.

In exchange for the guilty plea, Justin Maschhoff was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Class X felony drug-induced homicide in connection with the overdose death of Anthony Hillesheim. A Class 3 charge of possessing narcotics was dismissed per the plea agreement.

Maschhoff could have been sentenced to as much as 30 years in prison for the Class X charge. In addition to serving 12 years for the death of Hillesheim, Maschhoff was also ordered to complete three years mandatory supervised release and pay $372 in court costs. He was given credit for 115 days served in the Washington County Jail.
