PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Police say more than $1 million worth of jewelry and gems are missing after an apparent break-in at a weekend antique show in Peoria.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports vendors reported the theft Sunday after they reopened the Mid America Antique Show and Sale at Exposition Gardens in Peoria.

Blue Goose Antiques co-owner Doug Jennings says there was “a sinking feeling” when vendors noticed items disturbed Sunday morning.

A police report says someone may have entered the facility through an unlocked door to a men’s bathroom and then broke into a showroom. One vendor reported five cases of jewelry missing, including gold, diamonds, rings, bracelets and necklaces.

Another vendor’s property was moved into a bathroom, but nothing was missing.
The police report says no security cameras recorded the incident.
