POPE COUNTY — Authorities are confirming wreckage they believe to be from a plane missing since Sunday night has been located in Pope County.

According to the Pope County Sheriff, the wreckage was found by search teams around 6:40 Monday night on Burden Falls Road near the Burden Falls campground in the Shawnee National Forest.

Police are not confirming any casualties at this time.

A pilot and at least one passenger were on-board the plane that was traveling from Marion Ky., to Marion Ill. Last contact with aircraft was around 8:55 p.m. Sunday when the pilot reported bad weather.

Authorities were searching two locations in the Shawnee National Forest as well as other locations along the plane’s intended flight path.

 

Names of those on the plane have not been released, but family has been contacted.
