CLAY COUNTY — Authorities investigating an explosion earlier this week in Clay County have arrested a 35-year-old Edgewood man believed responsible for the alleged intentional incident that left one person injured.

As a result of the investigation Kevin E Caldwell was arrested and charged yesterday in Clay County Court with Possession of Explosive or Incendiary Device, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition by a Felon, and Theft from a school, house of worship, or government office.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office they continue to investigate the Monday incident along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad and the Clay County State’s Attorney Office. Law enforcement secured a search warrant and served it on a residence Monday evening following the explosion.

The name of the injured person is not being released but the injuries are not believed to be life threatening. This is still an ongoing investigation.

Caldwell’s bail has been set in the amount of $50,000 and he is currently being held in the Clay County Jail.
