SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois Department of Corrections says a data breach has resulted in the release of social security numbers and other personal information of more than 1,000 agency employees.

The department says it became aware of the breach Friday and there is no indication the information has been misused.

It says the information was inadvertently included in response to a Freedom of Information Act request. The information also included names, ranks, salaries and job duties.

The employees work at the Lawrence and Dixon Correctional Centers.

The department says it is investigating the breach and reviewing procedures to prevent a repeat.
