FAYETTE COUNTY — Some changes are taking place in the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office, with the swearing in Tuesday of a new Assistant State’s Attorney, and the announcement of another leaving the office for a position in Shelby County.

Following Tuesday’s swearing in of Brenda Duke as a new Assistant State’s Attorney in Fayette County, Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Chief Judge Michael McHaney and Shelby County Resident Circuit Judge Allen F. Bennett announced Wednesday that Amanda Ade-Harlow has been appointed to the now full-time Public Defender’s position in Shelby County, which was approved by the Shelby County Board on August 12, 2015.

Ade-Harlow currently serves as the Assistant State’s Attorney of Fayette County. She previously served as the Assistant State’s Attorney in Shelby County in 2012.

Ade-Harlow has served as a Conflict Public Defender in Shelby, Christian and Montgomery Counties. She resides in Shelby County with her husband and their two children.

Shelby County is one of nine counties in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, which also includes Christian, Clay, Clinton, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Marion and Montgomery.

Ade-Harlow will remain on the job in Fayette County through the end of August, taking over in Shelby County September 1.

Duke is a graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law and comes to Fayette County after serving as a litigant attorney with a law firm out of Decatur.
