JEFFERSON COUNTY –Two men are in the Jefferson County Jail on multiple meth-related charges, after the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department High Risk Team executed a search warrant Wednesday at a home in the 800 block of South 17th Street in Mt. Vernon.

Officers arrested 23-year-old Aaron Sanders on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine Materials, and Possession of Drug Equipment.

A second male, 19-year-old Christien Akers was also arrested at the residence on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Both men remain in the Jefferson County Jail with formal charges and bail to be set.

The search warrant that led to the arrests was obtained with the assistance of the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office and was signed by the Honorable Judge David Franklin after investigations by the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Division developed information that methamphetamine was being sold at the residence.

After the residence was secured a search by Narcotics Division Detectives resulted in the recovery of quantities of methamphetamine, methamphetamine manufacturing materials, digital scales, packaging materials, and a firearm were reportedly located.
