SANDOVAL — Delbert L. Carter, 68, of Sandoval, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Survivors include his wife; children Connie Cushman and husband Dalan of Centralia; Leah Carter of Joliet, Anthony Delatore and special friend Patty of Broadland, Richard Carter and wife Kimberly of Salem, Rachel Scarbrough and husband Rocky of Troy, LeAnne Carter of Sandoval, Sam Carter and wife Jessica of Sandoval; brothers and sisters Verland Carter and wife Kay of Alma, Sue Sanders and husband Arthur of Odin, Bobby Carter of Alma, David Carter and wife Debbie of Howe, Janet Sullens and husband Roger of Salem, Alfred Carter of Kinmundy, and Doug Carter of Salem, 10 grandchildren; three aunts; one uncle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by both his parents.
Mr. Carter worked as a truck driver for Wayne Carter for 35 years, prior to working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam on the USS Intriped. He enjoyed drinking coffee while visiting with his friends at Bill’s Cafe and watching Western movies, especially those with John Wayne. Delbert also loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Carter will be held 1 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Rev. Larry J. Woodward will officiate. Burial will follow at Sandoval Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Centralia American Legion Post #446 and V.F.W. Post #2055.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Wishes. Day Macz Funeral Homes in Sandoval is in charge of arrangements.
