WILLIAMSON COUNTY — A 19-year-old Hurst man was arrested following a report of shots fired in Energy around 7:20 Monday morning.
Energy Police Chief Shawn Ladd says when Energy and Herrin officers arrived on the scene, they learned that following a verbal altercation between residents and the suspect, Gage McNight, McNight produced a rifle and fired up to three shots from his car toward the residents and a home.
No one was hit by the gunfire. McNight then fled the scene and was stopped a short time later by Carterville Police and taken into custody without incident.
A .22 caliber rifle and ammunition were also recovered. McNight was taken into custody and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm. Ladd says further charges are pending.
