CENTRALIA — Recognizing the hard work and extra hours being put in recently by local police and first responders, a group of citizens joined to say “Thank You” to our police, dispatch, firefighters and EMTs, with a surprise pizza delivery.

Organized through the Facebook group “The CommUNITY”, more than a dozen pizzas along with appetizers, desserts and sodas, were delivered Saturday night to the Centralia Police Department, courtesy of a thankful community.

The dinner delivery was the idea of page member Julie Short, who posed the idea to other members on the page. People called in orders and paid over the phone, others stopped in at Domino’s and paid at the restaurant, while others dropped off money to Julie.

While some could only afford to donate a few dollars toward the cause, the sentiment was the same, people appreciate the hard work and sacrifice made by those working to serve and protect our community, and they support them in their efforts.
