CLINTON COUNTY — A woman is dead following a Sunday night motorcycle/vehicle crash on Illinois 127 near Bretz Winery in Clinton County.

The woman was a passenger on the motorcycle, and according to accident reports, around 9:15 Sunday night, just north of County Farm Road on Illinois 127, the motorcycle on which she was riding collided with a vehicle being driven by a juvenile. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department has not yet released the identities of those involved in the accident.

The male driver of the motorcycle was injured and flown by Arch Medical services to an unreported hospital for treatment of injuries, while the female passenger was taken first by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, but was subsequently flown to a St. Louis area hospital where she died.

The juvenile driver of the passenger vehicle reportedly was not injured.

Carlyle Fire, Medstar, Breese EMS, Clinton County EMA, Clinton County Sheriff’s Deptartment and Illinois Conservation Police all responded to the scene.

Arch Air Medical responded with one helicopter to St. Joseph’s in Breese, while the other landed on scene. Illinois 127 at that location was closed for several hours Sunday while first responders were on scene.
