SANDOVAL — Carolyn Joyce Henson, 73, of Sandoval passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Odin Healthcare Center.
She was born May 28, 1942, the daughter of Paulie and Clara (Clanton) Hobbs in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois. She married Perry F. Jourdan and they later divorced. She married Warren Henson on Sept. 27, 1976. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2009.
Survivors include her five children Perry Jourdan and wife Carin of Sandoval, Janice Hendry and husband Robert of Patoka, Julie Orrell of Sandoval, Paula Jourdan of Centralia, and Bill Henson of Sandoval; grandchildren Tara Scrivner and husband Wade, Shaun Murray and wife Casey, Chris Murray and wife Alicia, Jaime Crawford, Ashton Orrell, Garren Orrell, Halei Orrell, Ami Jourdan, Adam Jourdan, Andrew Winters, Brittney Henson, Keitan Hendry, and Jillian Hendry; great-grandchildren Allie, Grace, and Hudson Scrivner, Olivia and Abigail Murray, Blaize and Charlee Murray, Raelee, Keylee, Crue, Presley, Brynlee Crawford, and Breauna Crawford, and Elijah Haase; brother Wayne Hobbs of Carthage; beloved dog Suzy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Kaeson Crawford.
Mrs. Henson began her career as an accountant at the age of 17 with the Ed White Tax Agency. She later was owner and operator of Carolyn’s Tax Service for over 40 years. She cared deeply for the Village of Sandoval and was actively involved on the Village Board. Additionally, she served on the Sandoval Cemetery Committee, helping for many years with the December Chili, Soup and Pie Benefit. She also dedicated her time to the Sandoval Fire Department Toys for Tots program and the Sandoval Shalom ministries. She was instrumental in helping the Murray Center Parents Association and was passionate for the Democratic Party. She was of the Baptist faith.
Celebration of life services will be held at 1:p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Brother Claude Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Sandoval Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m .– 1 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Murray Center Parent’s Association, Sandoval Fire Department or Safe Haven Hospice.
