Jane E. Geiger

SANDOVAL — Jane E. Geiger, 76, of Sandoval, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015, at St. Louis University Hospital.surrounded by her family.

picture-pubShe was born June 16, 1939, the daughter of Rev. Edward E. and Harriet Evelyn (Anderson) Souders in Brookport, Illinois. She married Walter W. Geiger, Jr. on November 9, 1957 at the Demaree United Methodist Church in Centralia.

Survivors include her husband Walter Geiger, Jr. of Sandoval; daughters Tanya Bundy and husband Sam of Centralia and Pat Williams of Sandoval; son Tim Geiger and wife Barb of Tomball, Texas; grandchildren Ryan Bundy and wife Becca of Maryville, Leah Williams of Carbondale, Rachel Hanks and husband Tyson of Clermont, Fla., Sarah Anderson and husband Josh of Odin, Kristen Meskil and husband Bruce of Sandoval, Amanda Geiger of Lebanon, Jessica Geiger of Tomball, Texas, and Adam Geiger of Tomball, Texas; great-grandchildren Matthias Wright, Gracelyn Meskil, Ava Hanks, and Mabrey Bundy; special caregiver Diana Bivins; sister Mary Cook and husband Jim of Crystal City, Mo.; brother Rev. Robert Souders and wife Beverly of Caseyville; brother-in-law Harold Craig of Arizona; beloved dog Gypsy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents Rev. Edward and Harriet Evelyn Souders; father-in-law and mother-in-law Walter W., Sr. and Nellie G. Geiger; sisters-in-law Dorthea Craig and Jennie Lee Souders; brother George Souders; and great-granddaughter Audrey Bundy.

Mrs. Geiger was a lifelong Methodist. She was a strong Christian woman who was a member of the Sandoval Methodist Church and attended the Huey Methodist Church where her brother officiates. Jane was a homemaker and farm wife. She was also a school bus drive for 42 years. In 1973, she began driving for the Hoffman Bus Service and continued until the founding of Geiger Bus Service in 1996. She ended her career in 2015. She loved the kids and enjoyed going to extracurricular events and sporting events. Rarely did she go anywhere without running into one of her former passengers. Jane loved her family most of all. She spent many hours enjoying the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and tending to her flowers.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Sandoval United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Souders, Rev. Ray Long, and Rev. Rick Atchley officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the Sandoval United Methodist Church and from 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shalom Ministries, Huey United Methodist Church or the Donor’s Choice.
