COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — An Indiana drag racer whose truck, trailer and 1975 Chevrolet Camaro were stolen from outside a southern Illinois restaurant says he’s “torn apart” by the thefts.

Jason Tabscott of Camby, Indiana, had finished the final leg of Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week when he parked his pickup truck and loaded trailer Saturday outside a Collinsville restaurant. When he left the restaurant, he says the vehicles were gone. He says his insurers estimate they are worth $120,000.

Tabscott tells the Belleville News-Democrat his wife’s purse with a spare key was inside the locked truck.

He says he’s “torn apart” by the theft of the Camaro he’d been working on for 15 years.

Collinsville police said Monday they had no new leads on the theft and were awaiting surveillance footage.
