SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The regular meetings of the Illinois House of Representatives on the state’s budget impasse will happen less frequently over the next couple of months.

Chris Maley is a spokesman for House Speaker Michael Madigan. He said Thursday that the House will next meet Oct. 20 and then again on Nov. 10

Madigan had said in May that the House will remain in “continuous session” as the budget stalemate dragged on. For weeks during the summer lawmakers made the trip on a weekly basis.

Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democrats such as Madigan, who control the General Assembly, have failed to agree on a plan for the state government budget for the fiscal year that started July 1.
