RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 25-year-old Reno man found guilty of torturing seven dogs has been sentenced to up to 28 years in Nevada state prison.

Washoe District Judge Elliott Sattler said Thursday that Jason Brown, a former presidential scholar, will be eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 11 years.

Witnesses testified at his sentencing hearing Thursday about the gruesome bloody crime scenes, where he beheaded, skinned and dismembered dogs in Reno motel rooms in July 2014.

The judge, the prosecutor and defense lawyer all said it was perhaps the most horrific crime spree they’ve ever seen.
