FAYETTE COUNTY — A 32-year-old St. Elmo woman was killed in an early Monday morning in a car-pedestrian crash in Fayette County.
Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen says the accident occurred shortly after midnight this morning.
Bowen says that Crystal Snider and a friend were walking east on U.S. Route 40 about 3-tenths of a mile west of County Road 1950 East, when Bowen says an east bound car driven by 30-year-old Arik Warner, of Brownstown, struck Snider.
Snider was pronounced dead at the scene by Bowen at 1:12 this morning.
The accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Fayette County Coroner. An autopsy will be conducted today in Effingham.
An Illinois State Police report indicates that Snider was from Greenville; Bowen reported she was from St. Elmo.
