CENTRALIA — A 16-year-old juvenile male has been arrested in connection with an August shooting incident in on North Lincoln in Centralia in which no one was struck.

Centralia police arrested the juvenile when they learned the young man had returned to Centralia. He had reportedly fled to Chicago following the shooting incident.

The incident reportedly occurred August 2, in the 700 block of North Lincoln. According to witnesses, the juvenile was involved in an altercation with another juvenile male.

After apparently losing a fight, the suspect left the area, only to return a short time later with a hand gun with which he attempted, but failed, to shoot the other juvenile. No one was struck in the incident.

Police had been investigating the incident and believed the suspect had left the area and went to Chicago shortly after the shooting.

On Friday police received information the suspect had returned to Centralia and were given his location. Officers successfully located and identified the subject, confirming he had returned to Centralia from Chicago the day before.

He was arrested on a charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm and taken to a Juvenile Detention Center to await formal arraignment in Marion County Juvenile Court.
