Several propane providers in southern Illinois say this year’s prices could be as much as 50 percent lower than last year.
This follows a U.S. Department of Energy report predicting lower prices throughout the country.

Propane providers say cheaper prices are due to over supply and warmer weather expected this winter, among other reasons.

According to energy experts, the price drop throughout the Midwest averages 25 percent.

Several factors have caused the price decrease our region, including a global drop in oil prices, warmer temperatures expected this winter, and success within the U.S. natural gas industry.

Counties in our region with the largest number of propane users include Johnson, Union and Jefferson. For more information on how much your bill will drop, contact your provider.
