MARION COUNTY — A 25-year-old Fairfield man was killed in a single vehicle crash Saturday on the east side of Walnut Hill.

According to Marion County Corner Troy Cannon Tyler Bozarth was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma. He was reportedly traveling alone at the time of the crash.

State Police reports say a preliminary investigation shows speed played a factor as Bozarth was unable to manage a curve while traveling west on Walnut Hill Road approaching a curve at Marion County Road 550 E.

The report says Bozarth’s vehicle drove off the roadway, struck a ditch and road sign, before traveling approximately 50 feet through a wooded area and coming to rest in a cornfield.

Cannon says Bozarth was ejected from the truck. Toxicology samples were taken to determine any other reason the crash may have occurred.

It’s believed the crash occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday when an area resident heard some noises. But the truck wasn’t discovered until 7:45 Saturday morning after the sun came up. Cannon says the pickup truck was destroyed in the crash.

Walnut Hill Road was closed for most of Saturday morning while a State Police accident reconstructionist tried to determine how the crash occurred.
