A call reporting the fire came in around 10:30 Tuesday night, and when firefighters arrived on at 2803 Selmaville Road, the house was almost completely consumed by the flames, which firefighters were quickly fighting to keep them out of the surrounding woods and grasses.

The Illinois State Fire Marshall’s office will be investigating the fire. The home is owned by Audrey Gamdlin of Port Richey, Florida, and had been vacant for the past month after a renter moved out. It was not immediately clear if power was still on to the home.

Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.
