FAYETTE COUNTY — A Thursday traffic stop for expired registration and following too closely led to Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies to arrest a 37-year-old Colorado woman for possession of more than 60 pounds of marijuana.

According to Fayette County Sheriff’s reports, a deputy stopped Julia A. Macri on Interstate 70, ultimately located the suspected cannabis inside three large duffel bags inside the vehicle.

The cannabis was reportedly bagged in 64 separate bags, layered over several times and each bag weighing approximately one pound each.

The 64 pounds of cannabis is estimated to have a street value of between $192,000 to $320,000.

Macri was formally charged this morning in Fayette County Court with Class X felony manufacture with the intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams of cannabis, Class 1 felony trafficking of between 2,000 and 5,000 grams of cannabis and Class 1 felony possession of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis.

She remains in the Fayette County Jail, awaiting the setting of bail.
