Investigation leads to charges in home invasion, killing

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Authorities have charged two men in connection with a fatal shooting during a home invasion in rural Caseyville.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports Nicholas Hood was shot to death Tuesday in front of his fiancee and her children.

Members of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis held a news conference Saturday to announce charges against 20-year-old Terrion D. Stevenson of Cahokia and 21-year-old Orlando C. Adkins Jr. of Belleville.

Stevenson and Adkins face charges of first-degree murder, home invasion with a firearm and residential burglary. Authorities say a third person is in custody and has not been charged. A fourth person who is not in custody has been called a person of interest.

It was not clear Saturday whether the men have attorneys who could comment.
