MARION COUNTY — A 47-year-old Salem man was sentenced today in Marion County Court to 30 months in prison, after he pleaded guilty to the lesser of two felony drug charges against him.

John G. Fodero pleaded guilty to Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance, in exchange for a Class 2 felony charge of possession of narcotics being dismissed.

The charges stemmed from a March arrest following a traffic stop in Salem on a vehicle in which Fodero was a passenger.
While searching the vehicle, Marion County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly found a glass one hitter pipe with residue between the passenger seat and center console.

A further search turned up a green baggie on the floor that contained several white rocks that field tested as cocaine.
Deputies later found several more baggies including two with white rocks, an electronic scale, and cash in Fodero’s clothing. The driver of the vehicle was not charged.
