QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — The trial for a former Adams County prosecutor facing a first-degree murder charge in his wife’s death has been delayed for the sixth time.
A judge granted another continuation for 47-year-old Curtis Lovelace during a hearing Thursday. His trial had been set for Nov. 30, but the judge rescheduled it to Jan. 25.
The Quincy Herald Whig reports that the trial had been delayed several times as the defense worked to find an expert witness to look at evidence.
Attorney Jeff Page assured the judge that the defense will be prepared for the new trial date.
Lovelace is accused of suffocating his wife, 38-year-old Cory Lovelace, at their home in 2006.
He has pleaded not guilty.
