Todd Clementz died on March 30th of this year when he collapsed after a shower. Clementz was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The Inquest is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in Courtroom two of the Marion County Courthouse, at which time a coroner’s standing jury or panel will be presented evidence and will hear witness testimony regarding the death of Clementz.

According to Cannon, the panel can also ask questions of witnesses before they recess for deliberations and return a finding on the manner of death. He says there are five manners of death possible in an inquest, accidental, homicide, suicide, natural and undetermined.

Coroner’s inquests used to be required by law, but now are convened at the coroner’s discretion. In addition to the Marion County Coroner’s Office, the Illinois State Police and the Office of the Inspector General have conducted investigations into Clementz’ death, which include toxicology tests, an autopsy and more.
