Norlyn Duensing

CENTRALIA — Norlyn Duensing, 81, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Centralia Manor.

He was born the son of Adolph and Lydia (Fricke) Duensing on August 1, 1934 in Randolph County, Illinois. He married Sue Bishop on June 5, 1954 in Herrin, Illinois and she survives.

picture-pubIn addition to his wife, survivors include sons Steve Duensing and wife Janet of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Matt Duensing (Sandra LaPlace) of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; daughters Amy Lane and husband Kevin of Wilmington, Delaware and Pam Schwartzkopf and husband Roger of Hudson, Illinois; grandchildren Andy Duensing and wife Amanda, Josh Duensing and wife Nisi, Zach Duensing and fiancee Sara, Sophie Duensing, Anna Duensing, Addie Rose Lane, Keegan Lane, and Kaleb Schwartzkopf; great-grandchildren Miette Duensing, Duncan Duensing, and Oona Mae Duensing; sister Darlene Spier of Colterville, Illinois; special friends Greg and Carolyn Queen and Mike and Leigh Ann Miller all of Centralia; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Duensing was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Margaret Rickenberg and Adeline Wolters; and brothers Wayne, Adolph, and Ferell Duensing.

Norlyn was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Centralia. His pastimes included spending time with his family, umpiring high school baseball games, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, and listening to music.

Per Mr. Duensing’s wishes he was cremated. A visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Centralia. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. at the church. Reverend Pam Mitcham will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tuesday’s Child After School Program at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
