MARION COUNTY — The felony theft trial of a former Salem Country Club manager has been continued until the end of November, while a civil case he recently filed against the country club awaits a court hearing.

Robert “Bo” Wright, was arrested October 23, 2014, in Piatt County on a Marion County warrant charging him with Class 2 felony theft greater than $10,000 and less than $100,000.

Police reports say that on August 12, 2014, representatives of the Salem Country Club reported discrepancies in the cash deposits and inventory for the period of Wright’s employment, April – August 2014.

After an investigation, the Salem Police Department obtained a search warrant for financial records at Wright’s home and bank in Monticello. Items matching the description of the missing inventory were observed at the home.

The arrest warrant carrying a $100,000 bail was served on Wright with the assistance of the Monticello Police Department, and he was taken to the Piatt County Jail where he posted $10,000 bond and was released.

Wright has pleaded not guilty to the charge against him and has demanded a speedy jury trial, which has since been resent multiple times. The trial is ultimately expected to last 5-days, with both the defense and prosecution filing witness lists along with proof of subpoenas being served.

After an October jury trial setting was vacated and rescheduled for November 16, Wright filed a civil suit against the country club and its board members for damages exceeding $50,000. A hearing in the civil case has not yet been scheduled, but a jury trial in the criminal case is currently scheduled for November 30.
