EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A suburban St. Louis woman is charged with misdemeanor child abandonment after authorities say she left her infant daughter in the back seat of her car outside of a casino where she gambled.

Prosecutors in southwestern Illinois’ Madison County charged 28-year-old Timeka Coleman-Jones of St. Ann, Missouri, on Monday.

Police say Coleman-Jones left her 7-month-old daughter strapped in a car seat Sunday afternoon while the mother was inside the Argosy Casino in Alton, leaving the vehicle’s rear windows cracked open about an inch.

Police suspect the child was left in the car for about 20 minutes before someone on the parking lot saw the baby and notified security.

The girl was uninjured.
Online court records do not show whether Coleman-Jones has an attorney.
